Amy is our first stylist to have completed our apprenticeship program! She’s an Aveda graduate who’s had her hands in hair ever since she was little. If her friends weren’t being chased with velcro rollers or her American Girl Dolls weren’t being glamorized, then her mom was being chased for a trim.
Upon moving to Chicago from Michigan, her enthusiasm for hair only grew and she’s been dedicated ever since. Her desire to make others feel comfortable and happy is the driving force behind her craftsmanship. Whether you want sophistication or punk rock, subtle highlights or bold fashion colors, Amy is committed to customizing a style that’s 100% true to you. Outside of the salon, you can find Amy playing the ukulele or walking her dog, Skippy.
Moira’s passion for doing hair sparked from her interest in Fine Arts and Psychology. After receiving a BA in Fine Art at Western Michigan University, she attended the Aveda Institute merging her creative studies with the hair industry. Which brought her to Cellar Door Salon&Studio for the two year apprenticeship in both Cut & Color, while also receiving extensive training with Keune in their Balayage technique. She loves being a part of a salon that allows her to build upon her broad spectrum of knowledge and skill.
With her vintage inspired look and red curly hair, she draws in clients with natural texture, but loves to do short, structured cuts to keep her inspiration balanced and well-rounded. Her thoughtful and humorous demeanor allows her clients to feel relaxed and confident as she effortlessly gives them exactly what they didn’t know they wanted.
